Sherpa is named after the Buddhists Sherpa's living in the Himalayas. These are the mountain people that porter all the climbing gear up and down the mountain. These folks are the best at what they do, so who better to name this excellent porter of high priced gear after. You spent a small fortune on that bike so the gear you use to porter it to and from the mountain is important. Yeah, we know it's not about the designation it's about the journey and the journey starts by loading just about any sized bike by the wheels so the journey won't damage the goods. The Sherpa is lite and simple to pack; those would be two important traits you would want if you were taking on the Himalayas.
